me – in bits and pieces

Filed under: Uncategorized — prothro @ 1:33 am

last september a little challenge circulated the blogworld- to write 60 random facts about yourself. well now, one year later, the right amounts of insomnia and boredom have collided to motivate me to such a feat (or at least to beginning it before i either fall asleep or watch an episode of 30rock on hulu) in the style of the great jessica schmale, i’ll break this baby up into three easy-to-digest installments. it keeps it interesting and gives me some time to think.

  1. if i were a bachelorette, i’d eat a can of black beans with sour cream for dinner at least twice a week. yum.
  2. i dislike velvet immensely, for some reason it feels like worms crawling up my finger nails.
  3. i played lacrosse in high school. right attack wing.
  4. i have three pets. laser and nitro, our gerbils. and molly, our black mouth cur puppy.
  5. i love cooking. since i got married, i’ve tried my best to cook something new every night. to my surprise, i generally succeed.
  6. i have one big brother and we never got along growing up. it was always his (insert fighting/ignoring tactic here) vs. my fingernails and door locking ability. don’t i sound like a lovely little sister? miraculously when we went to college we became friends and now i am quite fond of him.
  7. i love organizing and lists. few things can get me going like the container store and EIIP day (everything in its place day- a day that i go around the house and move anything that has been put to the wrong location) totally lame and i love it!
  8. my toenails are currently five weeks into the only pedicure i’ve gotten all year, a nice coral shade.
  9. i’m sometimes paralyzed by the thought of spending money. don’t know where that came from.
  10. i married an amazing, God-fearing, me-loving man who would absolutely cringe at me ending fact #9 in a preposition, i was going to fix it but it was such a nice segway (corrected: segue) into this fact.
  11. i love traveling. i’ve been to six continents. antarctica here i come! i need to do a country/state count.
  12. i am a rule follower.
  13. driving is therapeutic to my soul. driving on new streets or country roads increase the healing powers exponentially.
  14. i disciple a group of junior high girls. they are hilarious and surprisingly deep. and a big blessing.
  15. i love photography and cs4.
  16. my sweet evan bought me my first lens, a 50mm/1.4, which fell on the floor and broke the day after i got it. i cried. like whoa. then he made it all better. then i think i cried again.
  17. senior year i was voted most likely to be in the guinness book of world records. random. glad to let you know i haven’t disappointed. i was part of the world’s largest tea party while studying abroad in australia and the world’s largest pillow fight at a conference in atlanta
  18. i drive the same car that i did in high school. a ’97 honda CR-V named mona. and boy do i love her.
  19. i’m really bad at looking for things. if my keys/phone/wallet/car are misplaced. it’s better just to call for reinforcements because there is no doubt that after hours of looking, someone else will find it in the pocket of my jacket (which i’m wearing!)
  20. these are the tv shows evan and i like: house, 24, office, and 30rock. i like the biggest loser too but i only watch it if evan’s not here. he and reality tv don’t mix. we don’t like lost. or at least we won’t watch it. that’s for you lane and gina 🙂

if you’re up for the challenge and have a sleepless night in the next year, please join in on the 60 things challenge. i’d love knowing those little bits and pieces that make people their quirky selves.
